David Dutra, 80, of 1186 Middle Road Portsmouth, died Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at Village House Newport, RI.He was the husband of the late Virginia Grace Heap Dutra. Born in Newport, RI on April 20, 1923, he was the son of the late Manuel P. and Mary Roche Dutra.Mr. Dutra served in the United States Army during World War II. In the early 40s he worked at the Torpedo Station on the Naval Base Newport NETC retiring after 42 years of service. Mr. Dutra was a driver at St. Georges School. He was a communicant of St. Barnabas Church, a member of the BPOE Lodge Newport, AARP, NARFE, the Fifth Ward Seniors Association and a life member of the DAV. He is survived by his daughter Virginia Grzyb, his grandson Matthew Grzyb and his granddaughter Katie Grzyb all of Portsmouth.He was the brother of the late Mary Pinksaw. His funeral will be held on Monday, November 24, 2003, at 9:00 AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be private.
