Tiverton, RI - Manuel Dupont, 93, of St. Elizabeths Manor, Bristol, formerly of Main Road, Tiverton, died Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Saint Elizabeths Manor. He was the husband of Hortense Esther Moniz Dupont. Born in Middletown, RI on September 21, 1914, he was the son of the late Theophilo and Evangeline Duponte. Self educated, he worked for the LS Chace family and then for the LS Chace and Son Textile Belting and Strapping Company. He retired from here as shop foreman at the age of 63. He enjoyed gardening, clamming, and helping others. Manuel was a lifelong member of St. Christophers Parish in Tiverton, serving the church as an usher and around the church property with maintenance and repairs. He was also a member of the church Holy Name Society, now the St. Josephs Mens Guild. Mr. Dupont was also a third degree Knight at the Fr. Boehr Knights of Columbus Council in Tiverton where he volunteered many hours, especially Monday night bingo fundraisers. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Hortense Esther Moniz Dupont and two children, Roger Dupont and his wife Diane of Centerville, MA and Judith Barlow, and her husband Robert of Tiverton, four grandchildren Kevin, Michael, Karen, and Christopher, and seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by five siblings, Albertina Rego, and George, Jesse, John, and Ted Duponte. His funeral will be held Monday, February 25, at 9:00am from Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Christophers Church, Main Road Tiverton. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 24 from 4-7pm in the Connors Funeral Home.
