Manuel L. Ventura

Newport, RI - Manuel L. Ventura, 86, of 5 Gardiner Street, Newport, RI, died Monday, August 7, 2006 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. He was the husband of Maria Aguiar Ventura. Born in San Miguel, in the Azores on February 2, 1920, he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria Belhiete Ventura.Mr. Ventura worked at the Newport Hospital for over 20 years. He was a communicant of Jesus Saviour Church. Besides his wife of 61 years, he is survived by his son Anthony Ventura of Portsmouth, RI, his daughter Maria Ponte of Fall River, MA, his grandchildren Priscilla Ventura of Portsmouth, RI, David Ponte and George Ponte of Fall River, MA, and three great grandchildren. His funeral will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2006, at 9:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway And Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2006, from 5-8pm in the Memorial Funeral Home.
