Manuel Medeiros, JR Middletown, RI - Manuel Medeiros, Jr, 86, of Middletown, RI, died Saturday July 4, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at the Grand Islander Nursing Center in Middletown, RI. He was married to the late Laura Rose Medeiros for 63 years. Born in Middletown, RI on October 17, 1928, he was the son of the late Manuel V. and Rose (Garcia) Medeiros. In his younger years, he was employed by the Coca Cola Bottling Company in Newport, RI, which is how he met his wife, Laura, while delivering Coke to the Naval Torpedo Station. Later he was employed by Mello Construction, AVICA Corporation, and the Middletown School Department, where he retired in 1991. After retiring from the school department, he was employed as a school bus monitor in Middletown, for eighteen years. Manny was an avid landscaper/gardener and loved spending time at home with his family. His home and family meant everything to him. He is survived his daughters Barbara Dunn and her husband Barry of Middletown, RI, and Joanne Cappuccilli and her husband Jack of Feeding Hills, MA, and his brother Arthur Medeiros of Middletown, RI. He is also survived by his grandchildren John Cappuccilli, of Marshfield, MA, Jacqueline Henri and her husband Allan of Biddeford, ME, Katie Dunn of Fall River, MA and Christopher W. Dunn of Boston, MA, and great grandchildren Ashley and Jacob Cappuccilli, and grand dogs, Percy and Banjo. He is preceded in death by his wife, Laura Rose, his brother Joseph, and his sisters Agnes and Lillian. Calling hours will be held on Thursday July 9, 2015, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.His funeral will be held on Friday July 10, 2015 at 9:30 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in St. Lucy's Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery, Browns Lane, Middletown.
