Portsmouth, RI - Manuel Rodrigues Santos, Jr., 86, of 16 Morgan Street, Portsmouth, died Thursday, December 9, 2004 at St. Elizabeth Manor Bristol, RI.He was the husband of Lucia Santos Santos of Portsmouth, RI. Born in Lowell, MA on January 31, 1918, he was the son of the late Manuel and Maria Andre Santos Sr. Mr. Santos worked for Firestone Rubber Company in Fall River, MA for 33 years and then went to work for Seppala Ahoe Construction Company for 15 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of St. Anthonys Church and a member of the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament in New Bedford, MA. Besides his wife he is survived by his daughter Theresa Canuel of Swansea, his brother Augestinho Santos, four sisters Connie Fernandes of Fall River, MA, Engrinacoa Santos, Conceicao Santos and Elizabel Santos still living in Portugal, his Brother-in-laws Miguel Santos and his wife Vera of North Dartmouth, MA, Daniel Santos of New Zealand, Armand Santos of Fairhaven, MA, his grandson Edward Thomas Canuel of Swansea, MA, his niece and two nephews.His funeral will be held on Monday, December 13, 2004 at 9:00AM, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth. Donations in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 222 Richmond Street, Providence, RI 02903-4253.
