Taunton, MA - Marcello S. Roggero, 89, of 165 Winthrop Street, Taunton, MA, formerly of Newport, died Monday, September 25, 2006 at home. He was the husband of Theresa L. Faria Roggero. Born in Newport, RI on May 26, 1917, he was the son of the late Frank J. and Carmella Pallerino Roggero.Mr. Roggero served in the United States Army during World War II, as a technician 4th grade, with the medical detachment of the 394th Infantry Regiment. He was a Photographer and head of Reproduction Design for 41 years at the Public Works Building on the Newport Naval Base, until his retirement in 1984. Mr. Roggero was a member of the D.A.V. and a past member of the Newport Salt Water Fishing Club. He enjoyed fishing, country western music and going to yard sales. Besides his wife he is survived by his son Wayne G. Roggero of Warwick, RI, his daughter Marcy A. Anderson of Cross Junction, VA, his brother Vincent Roggero of Middletown, RI, two step sons Robert Ferris and Michael Ferris both of Taunton, MA, and many nieces and nephews. His funeral will be held on Thursday, September 28, 2006, at 11:00am, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial with Military Honors, will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on the morning of the service from 9-11am in the funeral home.
