Middletown, RI - Marcia D. King Haggis, 69, of 21 Bartlett Road, Middletown, RI, passed away peacefully at Newport Hospital on Tuesday, July 17. She leaves her husband of 47 years, John W. Haggis.Born in Newport, she was the daughter of the late Chester Thomas and Dorothy Richardson King.Marcia graduated with her associates degree from Catherine Gibbs School. She then worked at Salve Regina College, where her many roles included administrative assistant to the dean and commencement coordinator. In addition to her career and dedication to her family, she enjoyed her role in organizing many reunions for the Rogers High School, De LaSalle, and St. Catherines Schools, class of 1956. However, throughout her life her passion was caring for others, especially children and the elderly, family and friends. Marcia was always there for anyone in need. She enjoyed many years with family and friends, gardening, dancing, canoeing, and skiing. Marcia is survived and held in the hearts of her husband, four daughters and son-in-laws; Deborah and Brian Leary of Little Compton, RI, Cynthia and Tom Carroll of Portsmouth, RI, Susan and Michael Zmich of Tiverton, RI and Alison and Matthew Myette of Sutton, MA, her eight grandchildren; Ryan and Joshua Leary, Timothy and Sean Carroll, Jackson and Katherine Zmich and Charlie and Coryn Myette. She is also survived by her brother William T. King of Bremo Bluff, VA, her nephew William T. King Jr. of Silver Springs, MD and her niece Debra Rodriquez of Williamsburg, VA. There will be a memorial service for Marcia at Emmanuel Church, 40 Dearborn Street, Newport, on Monday, July 23, 2007 at 11:00amHer burial will be private.
