Margaret G. Smith

NEWPORT, RI - Margaret G. Toppins Smith, 79, of 66 Girard Avenue, Newport, RI died Sunday, August 28, 2005 at home. She was the wife of the late Earl D. Smith. Born in New Holland, NC on March 26, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Maggie Patterson Toppins. Mrs. Smith worked for Bill Del-Nero Cleaners as a presser. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Ladies Auxillary, the Newport Elks Lodge and the Community Baptist Church. She is survived by her son Mark Smith of New Orleans, LA, her siblings Larry Toppins of Newport, RI, Raymond Toppins of New Church, VA, Mary Clark of Jamaica, NY, and Sara Williams of Baltimore, MD, her granddaughter Kimberly Smith of Baton Rouge, LA, and her great grandson Giovanni Marcus Smith of Baton Rouge, LA. She was the sister of the late Edwin Toppins and Bernie Toppins. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, September 3, 2005, at 11:00 AM in Community Baptist Church, 50 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Boulevard, Newport. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Friday, September 2, 2005, from 5-8pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
