Margaret M. Foley Narcizo Peggy age 72, passed away on Friday, September 24, 2010 peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a brief illness. Peggy was born in Newport, RI, May 22, 1938 and resided in Newport for many years before relocating to Little Compton, Rhode Island. Peggy was the daughter of the late Anna Teahan Foley and Michael Francis Foley. During late high school she met her soul mate, Joseph M. Narcizo. They were married December 28, 1960 and were to celebrate their 50th anniversary this year. Peggy was an excellent student and talented artist. After graduating from St. Catherines Catholic high school in 1956, Peggy began her studies of biology and the sciences at the University of Connecticut and then completed her Bachelors and Masters in Physical Therapy at Salve Regina University. After several years of private practice, Peggy joined the staff at the James L. Maher Center to work with children with special needs. As a highly regarded Physical Therapist, Peggy worked diligently with each child; setting and achieving their goals with dedication, determination and love. It is also here where Peggy established life -long and loving friendships. As a parent of a child with special needs, Peggy was a strong leader and advocate for others like her. She is one of the founding members of the Rhode Island Parent Network RIPIN and the Newport Parent Advisory where the implementation of mainstreaming children with special needs into the Public School systems began. She devoted many tireless hours and days to this cause. In her private life, Peggy was an accomplished and award -winning artist in quilting, sewing, knitting and painting. Peggy is a founding member of the Quilters by the Sea Portsmouth, RI and was a coordinator and contributor to many artisan shows throughout New England. She had a great love for family and enjoyed many years traveling to places like the Carolinas where she and her husband Joe relished their great love of history and the civil war. She loved family gatherings with her children, grandchildren and extended family and friends and was a fixture at her grandsons many exciting games of baseball, hockey and soccer. Peggy is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph M. Narcizo, sister, Katherine F. Foley Martellino, daughters, Kathie A. Narcizo , Lisa Narcizo Gunning, son- in law Donald F. Gunning, sons Michael J. Narcizo , David J. Narcizo, daughter- in law Misi Bennett Narcizo. She also leaves four grandsons, Conner M. Gunning, Daniel F. Gunning, Garrett J. Gunning and Isaac B. Narcizo and eight nieces and nephews. There will be a Mass of Christian burial on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 10:00am at St Catherine of Siena 74 Simmons Road, Little Compton with a private burial to follow. A reception, celebrating Peggys life will be offered for family and friends at the La Forge Casino Restaurant at 1:00pm on Bellevue Ave, Newport RI.
