Margaret Rebecca Stone MelloPortsmouth, RI - Margaret Rebecca Stone Mello, 82, of John Clarke Retirement Center, Middletown, RI, formerly of 33 Clearview Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, passed away with her family by her side Wednesday, June 25, 2008.She was the wife of the late Antone Paul Mello.Born in Fall River, MA on February 6, 1926, she was the daughter of the late George F. and Hannah Flynn Stone.As a young woman, Margaret worked in the sewing mills of Fall River, MA. Over the years, she also worked as a waitress at Tommys Dinner and Paul Eddies Restaurant. She settled into work as an assembler at Raytheon where she retired in 1989. She was a communicant of St. Barnabas Church. She was a former member of the Portsmouth Senior Citizens Center and a charter member of the Tiverton Rod and Gun Club where both she and her husband won many archery awards. In addition to her love of travel and family, she enjoyed dancing with her loving husband and a good game of bingo with her friends.She is survived by her children Margo Mello of New Smyrna, FL, Donna Mello of St. Petersburg, FL, Lyn Mello and his wife Doreen of Portsmouth, RI, Denise Bruno and her husband Michael of Lake Worth, FL, Karen Transue and her husband Frederick of Portsmouth, RI, Lyle Mello and his wife Arleen of Clifton, VA, Kevin Mello of Venice, FL, Kim Mello of Tiverton, RI and Stacy Mello and her husband Henry of Portsmouth, RI, and her grandchildren Dawn OBrien, Erin Ivy, Billy Sickles, Deanna Pontello, Kim Albro, Paul Mello, Kristel Massarotti, Antontte Marshall, Robert Mello, Daneen Bruno, Jack Clarke III, Jamie Transue, Lauren Mello, Bianca Trevino-Mello, Savannah and Greer Mello, Kayla and Kelsey Donnelly, and Rose, Morgan, Kyle and John Pires.She also leaves her great-grandchildren Samuel and Dayna Pontello, Antonia and Angelica Sickles, Brandon and Nathan Hall, Christian and Cody Albro, Halie Massarotti, Delainey Mello, and Jack Andrew Clarke.She was the sister of the late Francis Stone, John Stone, George Stone, Hannah C. Castonguay, Kathryn Silvia, Mary L. Moffett and Ellen Hetzel. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 9:00 am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 29, 2008, from 4:00-7:00 pm, at Connors Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Portsmouth Rescue Wagon Fund, P.O. Box 806, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
