Margaret S. Fanning

Tiverton, RI - Margaret S. Sullivan Fanning, 92, of Sakonnet Bay Manor, Tiverton, RI, died Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Catholic Memorial Home, Fall River, MA.She was the wife of the late Francis J. Fanning. Born in Tiverton, RI on August 5, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Dr. James M. and Laura McGuire Sullivan.Mrs. Fanning graduated from Salem St. College in Salem, MA. She was a school teacher for the Tiverton School Department for 25 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of St. Christophers Church, where she was on the Womans Guild and taught CCD. Mrs. Fanning was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a member of the Tiverton Womans Club. She enjoyed gardening. She is survived by her children, James F. Fanning of Pittsburgh, PA, Peter M. Fanning of Redding, PA, Laura Fanning McLaughlin and her husband Jim of Loudin, TN, and Mary Fanning Durant and her husband Bob of North Hampton, NH, her grandchildren, Matthew Fanning of Charlottesville VA., Kara A. McLaughlin and Michael J. McLaughlin both of Atlanta, GA, Brian F. Durant, Kathleen S. Durant and Meghan S. Durant all of North Hampton, NH and her great grandson Nathan McLaughlin. Calling hours will be held on Friday July 15, 2011 from 4-7pm, in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Her funeral will be held on Saturday July16, 2011 at 8:00am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00am in St. Christophers Church, 1584 Main Road, Tiverton.Burial will be in St. Patricks Cemetery in Fall River.
