Margaret ?Peggy? Smith ThomsonPORTSMOUTH, RI ? Margaret ?Peggy? Smith Thomson, 87, of 18 Kensington Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, formerly of 59 Williams Street, Providence, died Friday, August 19, 2005. She was the wife of Adam Thomson. Born in Glasgow, Scotland, on January 2, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Susan Duffy Smith. Mrs. Thomson had worked as a nursing assistant at the Rhode Island Hospital, Jane Brown Unit, for 13 years, retiring in 1984. She was a Communicant of St. Christophers Church in Tiverton. She was a member of the Saint Andrews Society and the Rhode Island Ceiliohe Club. Mrs. Thomson was an avid crocheter who donated her quilts to families all over the world. Besides her husband of 57 years, she is survived by a son Francis A. Thomson, a daughter in law Julie Thomson, and a grandson Jared A. Thomson all of Portsmouth, RI, a brother Steven Smith and a sister Susan Naughton both of Scotland. She was also the sister of the late Thomas Smith, John Smith, James Smith, William Smith, May Vander, Nellie Hendry, and Sadie McLarnon. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at 5:30PM, in the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 23, 2005, from 4-7PM, in the Connors Funeral Home.
