Maria Dutra

Maria DaGloria Dutra, 93, of 39 Houston Avenue, Newport, RI, died Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Newport Hospital, Newport. She was the wife of the late Antonio Dutra. Born in Fayal, Azores, on April 8, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Jose Silveira and Inacia Rodrigues Garcia da Cha.Mrs. Dutra worked as a housekeeper at the former Garrettson Memorial Day Care. Maria was a devoted communicant of Jesus Saviour Church. She is survived by her step-daughter Maria I. Portela of Newport, RI , and a sister Maria Alverina Garcia of Portugal, and six step grandchildren Rosemary Portela, Anne Marie Lopes, Julie Portela, Jeanie Portela, Elizabeth Portela, Victoria Portela and great granddaughter Erica Portela. She is preceded in death by her brothers Antonio Rodrigues Garcia, Manuel Garcia Da Cha, Francisco Silveira Garcia, Henrique Garcia, Joao Silveira Garcia Da Cha, and sisters Maria Rodrigues Garcia, Rosa Maria Rodrigues and Ana Garcia.Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 20, at 8:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Tuesday, June 19 from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Memorial Funeral Home.
