It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Maria Carmo Rocha, who entered into eternal rest on April 3, 2025, at the age of 89. Born on October 15, 1935, in San Miguel, Azores, Portugal, Maria made her home in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, where she dedicated her life to serving God and her community.
Maria was a devoted minister, serving with unwavering faith and compassion for over 40 years through her Mission from God Healing Ministry. A true servant of the Lord, she traveled to Europe, Canada, and Puerto Rico to lead spiritual services, touching countless lives along the way. Maria's love for all people was evident in her tireless work at the Mission From God Food Ministry, where she would always extend a helping hand to those less fortunate. She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church, where her spirit of devotion and purpose shone brightly.
Maria is survived by her daughters, Ann Pierce and Rachel Edenbach; her grandchildren, Ian Rocha, Mathew Rocha, Conlan McDonald, Aidan McDonald, Daniel and Michael Pierce; and 10 great-grandchildren. She held a special place in her heart for her chihuahuas, particularly her companion, Godiva.
Maria was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joseph Rocha; her parents, Arthur and Mary Arruda; her son, Vincent Rocha; and sister, Evangeline Jandro.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during calling hours on April 7, 2025, from 4:00pm - 7:00pm at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Rd., Portsmouth.
