Middletown, RI - Maria T. Zagaglia Thomas, 87, of 191 Forest Avenue, Middletown, RI, formerly of Gould Street, Newport and Bayview Park, Middletown, died Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at Forest Farm Health Care Center in Middletown.She was the wife of the late Lawrence Mainard Thomas.Born in Newport, RI on December 23, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Theresa Georgi Zagaglia.Mrs. Thomas was a communicant of St. Josephs Church in Newport.She is survived by her sons, Lawrence Thomas and Michael Thomas, both of North Kingstown, RI, and Ralph Thomas of North Carolina, her daughters, Joanne Reading of Phoenix, AZ, and Florence M Thomas of Kittery, ME, her sister, Josephine Bernard of Newport, RI, seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.She was the sister of the late Geno Zagaglia, Joseph Zagaglia and Peter Zagaglia. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 8 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in St. Joseph Church, Broadway at Mann Avenue, Newport. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009 from 4-7 pm in the funeral home.
