Marie A. Vonderfecht

Marie A. (Spero) VonDerfecht, age 90, of Bliss Mine Road, Newport died Friday, November 9, 2012 at Newport Hospital of Newport, RI. Marie was born March 1, 1922 in Newport, RI and is the daughter of the late Marcus and Rose (Pinto) Spero of Hall Avenue, Newport and San Fele, Italy. She was married to David L. VonDerfecht for 64 years. Marie was a lifelong Newport resident. She graduated from Brown University with a Business Degree. Over her career, she worked for several insurance companies in Newport including Gilbert Ramlose Insurance and Nathan Gold Real Estate and Insurance. In later years, she worked as the receptionist at the Sea View Motel. Marie was also a communicant of St. Josephs Church.She is survived by her husband: David L. VonDerfecht of Newport, a nephew, Thomas Spero of Middletown; and two nieces, Susan Schenck of Middletown, RI; and Kathleen Medeiros of Middletown; her cousins, Mr. and Mrs. George Wortham of Aurora, CO; and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Spero Jr. of Boise, ID. She was preceded in death by her brothers Anthony, Michael and Dominic Spero.The funeral will be held on Tuesday, November 13 at 9:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport, RI. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park, In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Josephs Church, 5 Mann Avenue, Newport, RI 02840 or to the Association of Marian Helpers, Eden Hill, Stockbridge, MA 01263.
