Marie C. Romanus

Marie C. (Bolous) Romanus, 99, of Middletown, passed away on May 16, 2021, in Newport Hospital. She was the wife of the late Fred J. Romanus from 1950 until his passing in 1986.

Marie was born in Farmville, NC, to the late Wadih and Zahada (Farah) Bolous.

When she was a young child her family moved to Lawrence, MA where she completed her schooling and began her career. Most of her work was as a civil servant for the State of Massachusetts and the Federal Government. She also worked at the University of Rhode Island and Salve Regina College. She retired in 1981.

Marie loved reading and writing. Her greatest joy came from her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Marie is survived by her children, Fred Romanus of Loganville, GA, Marie O'Malley (Walter) of Stow, MA and Tony Romanus (Marilyn) of Lakewood Ranch, FL. She has five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren with two more on the way.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held in St. Lucy's Church on May 21, 2021. Burial took place in St. Columba Catholic Cemetery in Middletown.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to St. Lucy's Catholic Parish, 909 West Main Road, Middletown, RI 02842. Floral arrangements are not being accepted.
