Marie E. Burke

Newport, RI - Marie E Burke, 89, of 15 Whitwell Ave, Newport, RI, died Friday, February 5, 2010 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI, after a short illness. . Born in Providence, RI on August 17, 1920, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Estelle Perry Burke. She is survived by her sister Eileen Burke of Newport, RI Marie graduated from Rogers High School in 1938 and from the Newport Secretarial School in 1939. Ms. Burke worked at the Newport Naval Hospital for 36 years, retiring as Administrative Supervisor of the Patient Affairs office. She was a lifelong member of St. Josephs Church in Newport. Her funeral was held today from Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Ave. Burial took place in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown.
