Marie Elizabeth Hines

Marie E. (Antone) Hines, of Mayflower Drive, Middletown, RI, died peacefully on Monday, October 13, 2014 at Heatherwood Healthcare Center in Newport.She was the wife of Arthur M. Hines. Born in Newport, RI on February 5, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Josephine (Monteiro) Antone both of Fargo Cape Verde Islands. Mrs. Hines enjoyed the simple life, playing Bingo, Find A Word puzzles and cooking. She especially loved family gatherings, cookouts and dinners.In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, John J. Gonsalves, Jr. and his wife, Naomi, of Dartmouth, MA, William "Billy" Gonsalves of Middletown, RI and Donna M. Matthews and her husband, Thomas, of Middletown, RI; her sister, Josephine Fields of Newport, RI; her brothers, Manuel Antone of Georgia, and Albert Antone and Tony Antone, both of Middletown, RI; her five grandchildren, Anthony Gonsalves, Valerie Pires, Billy Gonsalves, Jr., Michael Matthews and Alisha Gonsalves; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her son, Richard M. Gonsalves and her brothers, John, Joseph and Frank Antone.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2014 from 4-8 pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.Her funeral service will be held on Monday, October 20, 2014 at 10.00 am in the funeral home.Burial will follow in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown, RI.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Rhode Island Chapter, 245 Waterman Street, Suite 306, Providence, RI 02906.
