Marie Kent

Middletown, RI - Marie Garrison Kent, 71, of 969 West Main Road, Middletown, RI, passed away Friday, January 15, 2010 at Newport Hospital after a short illness. She was the wife of Robert C. Kent with whom she celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this past August. Born in Newport, RI on July 17, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Russell W. and Mabel Stone Garrison.Mrs. Kent always looked forward to seeing her friends at McGoverns Restaurant where she dined weekly. She especially enjoyed being with family and friends at family gatherings. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her step-daughters, Chris Anne Bass of Alvin, TX and Diane Miller of Fairfield Bay, AK; her brother, Lawrence Garrison of Garner, NC; her sister, Carol Smith and her husband, Roy, of Middletown, RI, nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, her twin sisters daughter, Bonnie Stevens of Middletown, RI, who was like a daughter to her; and several nieces and nephews.She was the step-mother of the late Robie Barbree and the sister of the late James Garrison, William A. Garrison, her twin sister, Shirley Fougere, and Irene Bowlby. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at 11:00am in First Presbyterian Church, Broadway and Everett St., Newport.
