Marilyn C. Drape

Marilyn C. Drape, 92, of Bayview Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, died peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2014 at home with her family at her side.She was the wife of the late Gardner Shove Drape who died in 2008.Born in Fall River, MA on July 15, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Joseph T. and Evelyn (Adam) Cloutier.Mrs. Drape was a graduate of Durfee High School in Fall River and went on to attend the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, but left to serve in the US Army (W.A.C.) during WWII where she traveled the country entertaining the troops. As a homemaker, she was dedicated to her family. She was an avid seamstress, knitter, quilter and reader.She is survived by two daughters, Marsha Lynn Ollerhead and Marlene Elizabeth Drape, both of Portsmouth, RI; three grandchildren, Samantha Cawley, Christopher Ollerhead and his wife, Meghan, and Marissa Letendre; her brother, Charles T. Cloutier and his wife, Phyllis; and six great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Marilyn Ann Drape.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 from 4-7 pm in Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 9 am from Connors Funeral Home with a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Anthony Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.The family wishes to extend many thanks to VNS Hospice of Newport Bristol Counties for the care they provided to Marilyn.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to VNS Hospice of Newport Bristol Counties, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
