Marilyn Lee Perkins Newport, RI - Marilyn Lee Perkins, 60, of 39 Homer Street, Newport, RI, died Monday, February 26, 2007 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of LeRoy Lee Allen Perkins. Born in Palo Alto, CA on October 31, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Doyle Reavis and Joan Conway Dempsey.Mrs. Perkins was named the Nurse of the Year in 1993 by the Rhode Island Nurses Association. She taught all the Newport County EMTS. Marilyn received her Registered Nurse certificate from Rhode Island College and then earned her C E N Certified Emergency Nurse and had worked at Newport Hospital for 40 years as an Emergency Room Nurse. She is survived by her husband LeRoy Lee Allen Perkins of Newport, RI, her daughters Heather Schneider and her husband Ray Schneider of South Kingstown, RI, and Elena Transue and her husband Stephen Transue of Middletown, RI, her sister Patricia Dempsey of Bennington, VT, her brother William Danny Dempsey of Evansville, IN, her granddaughter Blair Schneider of South Kingstown, RI, her grandson Miller Schneider of South Kingstown, RI, her granddaughter Mackenzie Transue of Middletown, RI and several nieces and nephews and cousins. Her funeral will be held on Thursday March 1, 2007, in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Newport Memorial Park in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday February 28, 2007, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
