Marion Elizabeth Shakarian

Marion Elizabeth (Thomas) Shakarian, 86, of Portsmouth passed away at Charlton Memorial Hospital on September 22, 2015. Marion was born in Portsmouth, RI to the late Henry Ellsworth Thomas and the late Mabel Louise Vaughn. She was educated in Portsmouth schools and later graduated from Thibodeau's Business College. Marion worked as a secretary for many years and retired from the Household Finance Corporation. She later worked for HR Block where she worked until she was 80. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Portsmouth United Methodist Church.In addition to her parents Marion is predeceased by her husband Charles Thomas Shakarian, her sister Thelma L. Therrien, and her sister-in-law Gloria M. Wise.She is survived by her daughters Pamela Shakarian of Portsmouth, RI, Alison Shakarian and her husband Mark Atkins of Tiverton, RI and Laurie Shakarian of Portsmouth, RI, her sister Mildred Grinnell and her husband Laurance of Portsmouth, RI, her sister-in-law Margaret Shakarian of Medford, MA and many nieces and nephews.Family and friends are invited to visiting hours from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, on Friday, September 25, 2015, at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road Portsmouth, RI 02871. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday September 26, 2015, at Portsmouth United Methodist Church, 2732 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
