Marion R. Raymond

Portsmouth, RI - Marion Ruth Arnold Raymond, 91, of Portsmouth, RI, died Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late John A. Raymond and the mother of the late Patrick R. Raymond. Born in Buffalo, NY on August 22, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Freida Kramer Arnold. Mrs. Raymond was a long-time resident of Portsmouth. She was a former member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church and a good friend of the late Rev. Peter J. Maguire. Known as Mimi to many children in Portsmouth, Mrs. Raymond was a caregiver to many children and their families. She was also a beloved volunteer for Island Hospice, counseling numerous families at their time of need. She is survived by her sons, John P. Blanchard of Clarksburg, WV and J. Peter Raymond Joseph W. Shannon of Columbus, OH, her brother Kenneth Arnold of Buffalo, NY and her extraordinary friend and caregiver, Jean Sullivan.
