Newport, RI - Marjorie Ann Gallagher, 81, of Newport died Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at home surrounded by her loved ones.Born on September 5, 1933 in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late Donald W. and Mildred (Kirby) Gallagher. Marjorie grew up in Newport on Narragansett Ave and was a graduate of St. Catherine's Academy. Marjorie worked for the former Harry Groff Electric company from 1964-1974 and then onto the Newport Electric Company until 1998, retiring after 24 years. Ms. Gallagher was a communicant of St. Augustin's Church and was also an avid Newport Gulls Fan.She is survived by her son Kevin Gallagher of Newport, RI, her sister Sheila McGuire of Taunton, MA, her granddaughter Tiffany Gallagher of Frisco, TX, two great grandchildren, Harper and Kensley Krawiec, her niece and two nephews.Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, from 5:00-8:00pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at 9:00am, from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Augustins Church, Carroll Avenue, Newport, RI. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery, Browns Lane, Middletown.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Visiting Nurse Services of Newport and Bristol Counties, 1184 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
