Marjorie Anne Carruba

Middletown, - Marjorie A. Whiteman Carruba, 69, of 1 Shaw Court Middletown, died Thursday, March 20, 2003 at home.She was the wife of Rudolph Carruba. Born in Eldred Township, Jefferson County, PA on May 10, 1933, she was the daughter of the late James E. Whiteman and Christene McMangle Whiteman.Mrs. Carruba was a 1980 graduate of the Newport School of Nursing. Mrs. Carruba worked at the Newport Hospital and the Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island until her retirement in 1999. She was a member of the Newport Hospital Nursing School Alumni Association. Mrs. Carruba enjoyed bowling in different women?s leagues and was a former President of the former Women?s Bowling League. She enjoyed spending her spare time in the flower gardens and working with her roses. Mrs. Carruba always enjoyed sewing for her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader, loved power boating, and she loved to travel especially camping with her grandchildren in Maine. Besides her husband she is survived by three sons Mark A. Carruba and Michael Carruba both of Middletown, RI, and Christopher L. Carruba of Portsmouth, RI, her daughter Catherine L. Duckworth of North Kingstown, RI, her brother Milton E. Whiteman of Kane, PA, four sisters Elivira M. Abbott of Inverness, FL, Ethel L. Hetrick of Summerville, PA, Dorothy J. Tharp of Corry, PA, and Margaret L. McCool of Sigel, PA, eight grandchildren and two great Grandchildren.She was the sister of the late Banks H. Whiteman and Helen B. Siar.A Prayer service will be held on Sunday, March 23, 2003, at 7:30PM, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.
