Marjorie Barbara Putorak Newport, - Marjorie Barbara Putorak, 75, of 125 Quaker Hill, Aquidneck Place Portsmouth, formerly of 36 Whitwell Avenue, Newport, died Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. Born in New Britian, CT on April 18, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Stella Wojtusik Putorak. Miss Putorak was a registered Nurse with the Newport Hospital retiring in 1976. She attended Rogers High School from 1944 thru 1946 then she attended New Britain High School graduating in 1947. Miss Putorak attended Newport Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1950. She then entered the United States Airforce in 1956 serving 20 years retiring in 1976 as LT. Colonel. While in the Air Force she received the Outstanding Unit Award with 2 clusters and also received the Air Force Reserve Medal. She served in the Vietnam Conflict. Miss Putorak was a member of the Society of Air Force Nurses, Alumni Association of Newport Hospital School of Nursing and also the past president. She was a member of the Retired Officers Association and also AARP. She is survived by one brother Joseph Putorak of New Britain, CT., a nephew James L. Potter of Newport, R.I., She was the Brother of the late Leo Putorak. She also leaves several nieces and nephews.She was the sister of the late Irene P. Potter. Her funeral will be held Saturday, July 31, 2004, at 9:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway And Mann Avenue, Newport.
