Marjorie Christine Diggles

Middletown, RI - Marjorie Christine Diggles, 85, of John Clarke Retirement Center, Middletown, RI, died Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at the center. Born in Newport, RI on December 15, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Janet Christine Gillis Diggles.Marjorie graduated from Rogers High School in 1943 and worked at the Newport Naval Hospital for 30 years as a Medical Transcriptionist. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary?s Church in Newport where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for several years and had been a member of the choir. She was also a member of the Our Lady of the Angels Fraternity Secular Franciscan Order and a former member of the Catholic Daughters.Marjorie enjoyed music, dancing, penny socials and the beach. She loved her nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grand nephews. She is survived by her sister Roberta Raffa of Middletown, RI.She was predeceased in death by her sisters Janet M. Deveau and Claire I. Burke.Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 7, 2011, from 8:30-9:30, in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Her funeral will follow at 9:30 from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am, in St. Marys Church, Spring Street, Newport.Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
