Somerset, MA - Marjorie Barnes, of Somerset, passed away unexpectedly on August 10, 2011. At the time of her death she was 64 years old. For forty years, she was the beloved wife of Lowell Barnes. She was born in Providence, RI and grew up in Warwick.She held undergraduate degrees from Roger Williams College and Barrington College. She had a masters degree in hospital administration from Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri. Marjorie had worked as a real estate broker for the past twenty five years with licenses in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Florida. She was principle broker for Summit Realty in Rehoboth. Marjorie was also gifted at crafts which led her to work for Jo-Ann Fabrics. She enjoyed life deeply. Marjorie had traveled extensively and had visited forty four states with the goal of visiting all fifty. Marjorie recently returned from a sixteen day trip exploring the Northwest states of Montana, Idaho, Washington and Oregon. She found the Rocky Mountains and the Cascade Mountain to be a never ending source of awe. She particularly found Crater Lake in Oregon to be spectacular. Marjorie had visited four foreign countries as well. She was active in the pitch league in Swansea and enjoyed playing cards with her friends there every Wednesday night. Marjorie was an active member of American Mensa for twenty years and looked forward to attending their local activities along with their regional and national gatherings. She treasured spending time with her family .She also enjoyed spending time with her many friends. Marjorie found her two cats, Misty and Dusty, to give her joyful and playful companionship. As a foundation under her life, she had a deep spiritual commitment and abiding faith that guided her life. She is survived by her husband and by her two sisters, Barbara Blease and Martha Goodman. She has two nieces Heather Goodman and Nancy Considen, one nephew, Maj. Brian Barnes, US Army. She adored her grandniece Kylie and grandnephew Conor.Her services w ere private and internment was in Hillside Cemetery in Tiverton.She will always live on in the hearts of those who loved her and were fortunate enough to be loved by her.In lieu of flowers make a donation to your favorite charity.
