Marjory Evelyn Hurd

Marjory E Hurd Newport, RI - Marjory E Hurd, artist and teacher, died Friday, August 20, 2010 at the age of 96, surrounded by members of her family and the caring staff at Village House Convalescent and Rehabilitation Home A former resident of Falmouth and Duxbury Ma, Marjory is preceded in death by her husband, the late Henry Wilson Hurd. Born in Carver, MA on Nov. 12, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Clinton and Cora Wade Baker. She leaves her three daughters, Holly DiMauro of Tiverton, R.I., Marsha Bornhofft of Sandwich, Ma and Susan Playfair of Cohasset, Ma her granddaughters, Betsy Lamitina of Philadelphia, Pa, Emily Merrill of Charlotte, N.C. and Lilian Lily Faulhaber of Boston, Ma. and her grandson Henry James Jamie Bornhofft of Sandwich, Ma. In addition, Marjory is survived by three great-grandchildren and her three sons-in-law, Frank DiMauro, Henry J. Bornhofft 111, and Richard OConnell. A graduate of The Massachusetts College of Art, Marjory took courses at Bridgewater State Teachers College prior tp teaching in the elementary school in Duxbury, Ma. Where she delighted her students with whimsical murals she drew and painted. A celebration of her life is planned for 1 pm , on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the First Parish Church, 842 Tremont Street, Duxbury, Ma. Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Village House Activities Program, 70 Harrison Ave. Newport, R.I. 02840
