Middletown, RI - Mark Joseph Perry CDR, USNR ret, 51, of 62 Swan Drive, Middletown, RI, died Monday, September 28, 2009 unexpectedly in Honolulu Hawaii while on a business trip.He was the husband of Cynthia Lavin Rodgers Perry. Born in Barnstable, MA on May 28, 1958, he was the son of Benicia Odgen Perry and the late Robert R. Perry.CDR Perry served in the United States Navy retiring in 2003. CDR Perry served on board the USS Glover. As a Surface Warfare Officer he served the Communications Officer and as the Assistant Submarine Warfare Officer. CDR Perry became an Intelligence Officer and served in various commands within the reserve community throughout his remainder of his career. He was recalled to active duty after the attacks on 9-11 in support of Operation Noble Eagle and Enduring Freedom. As a civilian he was employed by Marine Safety Intl for 10 years and his most recent position was as an analyst for Booz/Allen/Hamilton. Mark was an active member of the United Congregational Church, where he served as a deacon and Chairman of the church council. He was an avid war gamer and reader, and enjoyed camping and exploring battlefields with his wife and children. Besides his wife of 26 years and his mother, he is survived by his children, Robert Albert Perry, Specialist Ian Stewart Perry, USA, and Kathleen Benicia Perry all of Middletown, RI. Also, his brother Steven Perry and his wife Dale, his in-laws, Albert and Barbara Rodgers, Ed Rodgers, Gary and Jennie Rodgers and Tom and Veronica Rodgers, along with several nieces and nephews. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009, at 11:00 am at the United Congregational Church, 524 Valley Road, Middletown.Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 9, 2009, from 7-9 pm at the United Congregational Church.
