Mark Roland Fernandez, 47, formerly of Newport, RI, died on December 29, 2013 at Boston Medical Center in Boston, MA.Born on February 23, 1966 in Bourne, MA, he was the son of Pauline (Jacklyn) Fernandez of Newport, RI and Melvin Fernandez of Portsmouth, RI, and the grandson of the late Roland and Muriel Jacklyn of Shelburne, Nova Scotia, Canada.Mark had attended Rogers High School and was an avid sports fan. He will be missed and loved by many.In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Elias, Hanna, Gianni and Jade; his sisters, Carol Quarles and her husband Todd of Lincoln, RI, Sharon Cunningham and her husband Kieran of Middletown, RI, Donna Jacklyn of Middletown, RI and Angela Fernandez of Providence, RI; and his nieces and nephews, Christopher, Jennifer, Marissa, Tara, Ciara, Aine, Keeley, Siobhan, Liam, Kayla, Jessica, Stephen and Gian.Funeral services will be private.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Crossroads Rhode Island, 160 Broad Street, Providence, RI 02903.
