Portsmouth, RI - Mary A. Chase Hanks, 88, of East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, died peacefully on Thursday, January 19, 2012. Born in Portsmouth, RI on April 29, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Mary (Korzeneski) Chase. Mary operated the Frank Chase Farm/ Stonewall Stand. She was a member of the Portsmouth Historical Society, the Portsmouth Actors Guild and lifelong member of St Anthony Church. She was very active in Pro Life and Legend of Mary.She was the wife of the late John Donald Hanks. She is survived by her children, John Hanks of Centennial, CO, Nancy Moriarty of West Covina, CA. and Mary C. Hanks of Glendora, CA., ten grandchildren and one great granddaughter. She was the mother of the late Dr. Joseph Hanks. Memorial Service will be held at St. Columba Catholic Cemetery, 465 Browns Lane, Middletown, RI, on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at 2PM. Family and Friends are invited to share in a Celebration of her life, starting at 4pm, back on the Farm.
