Mary A. Pine, 91, of Carriage Drive, Portsmouth, RI, died Thursday, November 15, 2007. She was the wife of the late Joseph Anthony Pine. She was born in East Providence, Rhode Island on October 8, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Antonio A. Pereira and Hortense Jorge Pereira.Mrs. Pine was the owner and operator of the former Pine Motel on West Main Road in Middletown. She ran the motel with her husband Joseph for 27 years. When she was a young woman she worked at Flexlette in East Providence, RI making jewelry. Mrs. Pine was active in the catholic community. She was a former member of St. Lucys in Middletown and St. Barnabas in Portsmouth and more recently she was a member of Jesus Saviour Church in Newport. She is survived by her sons Joseph A. Pine Jr. and his wife Mary of Newport, and Robert E. Pine Sr. and his wife Beverly of Crystal River, FL, her 3 grandchildren Robert E. Pine Jr. of NJ, Jennifer LaBonte of Newport, RI, and Joseph Pine III of Newport, RI. She also leaves behind her sisters Sylvia Travers of Somerset, MA, and Sr. Hortense Amaral of Bristol, RI and 4 great grandchildren Haley, Lexey, Devin, and Cadence and many nieces and nephews.She was preceeded in death by her siblings Antonio, Joseph, Manuel, George, John, August, and James Pereira, William Amaral and Angelina Saudade. Her funeral will be held on Monday, November 19, 2007 at 8:00am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway And Vernon Avenue, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columbas Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 18 from 2-4 and 7-9 in the Memorial Funeral Home.
