Middletown, RI - Mary Lopes, 91, of Grand Islander Health Care Center Middletown, formerly of West House Forest Avenue Middletown, RI and Donna Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, died Thursday, January 20, 2005 at the center. Born in Portsmouth, RI on February 21, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Perreira Lopes. Mrs. Lopes worked as a housekeeper for the Walsh family in Newport, the Newport Naval Torpedo Station during World War II and the at Raytheon as an assembler for 15 years retiring in 1979. She was a longtime member of St. Barnabas Church were she was also very active through the years with church functions. She is survived by her son Frank Potter of Middletown, RI, her daughter Mary Jane Ball of Tiverton, RI, her brother Michael Lopes of Middletown, RI, her sister Sue Lopes of Middletown, RI, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces nephews.She was the sister of the late Joseph Lopes and George Lopes. In Celebration of her life a Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2005, at 10:00AM, in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Road, Portsmouth.
