Mary Eleanor Pike

Middletown, RI - Mary E. ?Eleanor? Chamberlin Pike, 91, of Forest Farm Health Care Center, Middletown, RI, formerly of 20 Bacheller Street, Newport, died Monday, April 30, 2007 at the center. She was the wife of the late Walter S. Pike. Born in Yonkers, NY, on July 26, 1915, she was the daughter of the late George and Mabel Pike Chamberlin.Mrs. Pike was a secretary for 15 years for Kirby Insurance. She also worked at the Newport Hospital in the human resources department as a secretary for 15 years, retiring in 1978. Mrs. Pike was a member of Emmanuel Church and a past member of the Newport Yacht Club. Eleanor was an avid reader and knitter. She is survived by her son George W. Pike of Newport, RI.She was the mother of the late Walter Pike, Jr. and the sister of the late George Chamberlin, Harris Chamberlin, Robert Chamberlin, Walter Chamberlin, Edith Smith, Betty Malo, Grace Edwards, Dorothy Cooper, Mildred Friend, Laurie Ripley, and Carol Wrathall. Her Memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2007, at 10:00am, in Emmanuel Church, 42 Dearborn Street, Newport. Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.
