Mary Elizabeth "Beth" Ann Rogers

Newport, RI ? Mary Elizabeth ?Beth? Lally Rogers, 72, of 15 Atlantic Avenue, Newport, RI, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at Pine Grove Health Care Center, Pascoag, RI after a long illness. She was the wife of Warren F. Rogers of Newport.Born in Scranton, PA on July 7, 1934, she was the daughter of the late William K. and Nona Hines Lally.Beth graduated as a registered nurse from St. Joseph?s Nursing School in Pennsylvania and was chief emergency room nurse at St. Clare?s Hospital in New York, NY. Later in her nursing career she served on the surgical team for the first heart transplants performed in the United States at Stanford University Medical Center.Besides her husband of 49 years, she is survived by her sons David W. Rogers and Michael W. Rogers both of Newport, RI, her daughter Maureen A. Rogers of North Providence, RI, her grandsons Patrick D. Rogers and Scott M. Rogers both of Ann Arbor, MI, her siblings William K. Lally, Nona Lally Rush, George T. Lally, Margaret Jane Padden and Louise Ehrlich. A gathering will be held at the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, on Saturday, March 3, 2007, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by burial in the Island Cemetery, 30 Warner Street, Newport.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the James L.
