Newport, RI - Mary Elizabeth Murdoch ONeill, 93, of Village House Health Care Center, Newport, RI, formerly of 1008 Newport Green and 206 Coggeshall Avenue, Newport, died Monday, October 22, 2007 at Village House Nursing Home, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Reginald P. ONeill. Born in Greenwich, CT on June 5, 1914, she was the daughter of the late James F. and Alice Harley Murdoch.Mrs. ONeill worked at St. Michael School and at Trinity Church for over 25 years. She was a member of the Edward King House, the Seaside Garden Club, the Redwood Library, the Newport Hospital Auxilary and Trinity Church. Mrs. ONeill volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 10 years, the Newport Art Association and at the Newport Hospital. She also worked at the gift shop at the Newport Art Association. Mrs. ONeill was an avid Bridge player, did needlepoint for Trinity Church, enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. She is survived by her son David P. ONeill and his wife Louise of Bradenton, FL, her daughter in-law Margaret Craft O?Neill of Newport, RI, four grandchildren Sharon Coddington and her husband Scott, Elizabeth O?Neill, Melissa O?Neill and Brian O?Neill and his wife Salpi and five great grandchildren Ryan O?Leary, Kermit Coddington, Aidan O?Neill, Ava O?Neill and Ella O?Neill.She was the mother of the late Peter J. ONeill, the sister of the late James Murdoch and Alice Allan and the aunt of the late Anne Allan. Her funeral will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2007, at 9:00am, in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Portsmouth.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2007, from 5-7pm, in the funeral home.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Village House Health Care Center, 70 Harrison Avenue, Newport, RI 02840 or to Odyssey Health Care, 100 Quaker Lane, Warwick, RI 02886.
