Newport, RI - Mary Frances James, 90, of Bradford Avenue, Newport, RI, died Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, RI. Born in Newport, RI on June 13, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Mary Shea James.Ms. James worked as an Administration Supervisor at NUWC for 35 years. Later, she was employed as a secretary for the Maher Center in Middletown for several years. She was a communicant of St. Josephs Church in Newport. She is survived by her sister, Barbara Wheat of Newport, RI; her nieces, Elizabeth Espanola of Middletown, RI and St. Petersburg, FL, Mary Ellen Thurber of Narragansett, RI and Maureen Adams of Cranston, RI; her nephews, Kenneth James Jr. of Portsmouth, RI, Thomas James of Swansea, MA and Paul Michael James of Dedham, MA; and several great-nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Rev. Paul James, Kenneth James, Sr. and Henry James. Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 4-7 pm in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, RI.Her funeral will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 9 am from Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Josephs Church, Broadway and Mann Avenue, Newport.Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery in Middletown.
