PORTSMOUTH, RI - Mary Helen Zych Montminy, 93, of a resident of 21 Narragansett Avenue, Portsmouth, RI, for 58 years entered into rest on Tuesday, May 10, 2005, in the Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Lucien Ferdinand Montminy Sr. Born in Alpena, MI on September 5, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Sylvester and Victoria Huya Zych.Mary worked as a seamstress in the Fall River mills and was a longtime member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She was a member of the Forever Young Club and the Portsmouth Senior Citizens Center. Mary was a communicant of St. Anthonys Church. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and reading. She is survived by her children Lucien F. Montminy Jr. of Middletown, RI and Marie V. Fitzgerald and her husband Ronald of Portsmouth, RI, her siblings William Zych, Leo Zych and Henry Zych all of Holland, MI, her grandchildren Deborah Brennan of Westwood, MA and John Scott Fitzgerald of Newport, RI, and her great grandsons John and Matthew Brennan both of Westwood, MA.She was the sister of the late Henry Zych, Charles Zych, Frank Zych, John Zych, Ed Zych and Stella Van Dyke. Her funeral will be held on Friday, May 13, 2005, at 9:00AM, from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00AM, in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth.
