Mary Eleanor (Connerton) King, 87, of Atria Aquidneck Place, Portsmouth, RI and formerly of Newport, died Friday, July 3, 2015 at the Forest Farm Health Care Center, Middletown, RI surrounded by her loving family.Mary was born in Boston, MA, on December 14, 1927, the daughter of the late William H and Mary (Kelley) Connerton, Sr. Mary graduated from Rogers High School in 1945 and was married in 1948 to the late John H. King, Jr., enjoying 64 years of marriage. She worked as an assistant cook for the RI School hot lunch program in various Newport schools and retired in 1989 after 28 years of service. She enjoyed reading, bringing her children to Third Beach and playing bingo with "The Club". After many years living in Newport, Mary moved to Atria Aquidneck Place in Portsmouth where she enjoyed playing bingo, going on their various outings and enjoying their entertainment venues.Mary is survived by her three children Eileen and Peter Sandham of Portsmouth, RI, John and Patricia King of Middletown, RI and Noreen and Robert Keas of Bullhead City, AZ, her brother William H. Connerton, Jr. of Newport, RI, her sister Margaret Mello of Middletown, RI, five grandchildren Michelle Keas, Bryan Keas, Sean Sandham, Megan Abbott and Marisa King and one great granddaughter Brooke Abbott. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews.Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister Nancy Moitoza.The family invites all those that knew Mary to celebrate her life. A Calling Hour will be held on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 7:30 am to 8:30 am in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport with a Mass at 9 am at St. Lucy's Church, 909 W. Main Rd, Middletown.
