Mary Lewis-Spampinato, 78, of Reddington Shores, FL died on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Suncoast Hospice Center, Pinellas Park, FL. She was the wife of Joseph V. Spampinato.Born on May 27, 1937 in Newport, RI, she was the daughter of the late Stella (Tsolas) Lewis Fotelis and the late Constantine "Charles" Lewis.Mary grew up in Newport and was a member of the St. Spyridon's Church community with her family. She graduated from Emmanuel College with a Nursing Degree and began her career at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Brighton, MA. She worked for 18 years as a Profusionist, assisting with life support techniques during surgeries.She married Joseph in 1980 and they moved to Florida in 1990 where she became a dedicated member of the St. Stefanos Church in St. Petersburg, FL. She volunteered many hours with the Philoptocos Society at the church, and was past-president (4 Years) of the organization, and Mary was also a member of the Daughters of Penelope.She is survived by her husband Joseph V. Spampinato of Reddington Shores, FL and his children, Manny Spampinato and his wife Denise of Laconia, NH, Joseph Spampinato and his wife Lisa of Salem, NH, Virginia Alfano and her husband Steve of Methuen, MA. She also leaves several grandchildren, Patricia Spampinato, Joseph Spampinato, Michaela Spampinato, Jacob Alfano, John Indeglia, Chrissy Hagen, Emily Alfano, and Justina Alfano, and great grandchildren Thomas Jr, Dylan and Kyle, and Dante and Delilah.She was the sister of the late George C. Lewis.Calling hours in Rhode Island will be held on Wednesday, October 28 from 6:00-8:00PM in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport.Her funeral will be held on Thursday, October 27 at 10:00am in St. Spyridon Church, Thames Street, Newport.
