Newport, RI- Mary Louise (Sousa) Monroe, 77, of Newport, died Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Newport Hospital. Born in Portsmouth, RI on February 27, 1937, she was the daughter of Mary Louise (Mello) Sousa Heck of California and the late Manuel Ferreria Sousa Jr. Besides her mother, she is survived by her daughter Debra Monroe and her husband John D. of Chelmsford, MA, her brother James Sousa of San Diego, CA, her sisters, Dolores Estes of Escondido, CA and Phyllis Johnson of Chula Vista, CA, her grandchildren, Jason R. Machado, Michel and Rachel Almeida, and her great grandchildren, Jason Machado Jr., Annabell Machado and Ashley Machado. A memorial service will be held Tuesday August 26, 2014, at 1:00PM in the Memorial Funeral Home 375 Broadway Newport, RI Burial will be private.
