Mary M. Honnen

Portsmouth, RI - Mary M. Peggy York Honnen, of 221 Water Street, Portsmouth, RI, passed away Monday, March 23, 2009 in the Newport Hospital. She was the wife of Albert E. Honnen for 63 years. Born in Lawrence, MA on Apr. 1, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Walter R. and Mary Scanlon York.Mrs. Honnen began working as a welder for the Boston Shipyard before entering the Army Air Corp. She also worked for over 15 years for the Portsmouth School Lunch Program as a cook. Besides her husband she leaves a son Albert E. Honnen Jr. and a daughter Joanne Honnen both of Portsmouth. She also leaves two grandsons Geoffrey Corey Honnen of Portsmouth and Albert Jason Honnen of Middletown, as well as a sister Joanne York of Lawrence, MA Funeral services will be held Friday, March 27, 2009 at 9:30am from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Anthonys Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RIVisitation will be held Friday morning from 8:30 - 9:30am in the funeral home.Burial will take place in St. Pauls Churchyard in Portsmouth.
