PROVIDENCE, RI ? Mary Monica Jerome, 89, of the RI Veterans Home Bristol and formerly of Highland Road, Tiverton, RI, died at the VA Medical Center in Providence, on Sunday, December 11, 2005. Born in North Tiverton, RI, on March 4, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Antone V. and Catherine V. Fernandes Jerome. Ms. Jerome was a Captain in the Army Nurse Corp. She was a 1938 graduate of the Newport School of Nursing, she also attended the Boston University School of Nursing. Her nursing career spanned over 40 years. Following her retirement from Nursing she became a Docent at Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology. She was a member of the American Nurses Association, the Alumnae Association Newport Hospital School of Nursing, the Alumnae Association of Boston University School of Nursing, and the Friends of Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology. She is survived by her brother Edward S. Jerome of Tiverton, RI, three sisters Ruth Bento of Tiverton, RI, Rita C. Morris of Portsmouth, RI and Kathryn Dennis of Noblesville, IN. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.She was sister of the late Paul A. Jerome, Francis E. Jerome, John H. Jerome and Joseph A. Jerome.Her funeral will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2005 at 9:00AM from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00AM in St. Christopher?s Church, 1584 Main Road, Tiverton, RI.
