Newport, RI - Mary Morgan Morinho Vieira, 93, of 16 Green Lane, Newport, RI, formerly of Plymouth Road, Jamestown, died Monday, May 26, 2008, at Newport Hospital, Newport, RI. She was the wife of the late Ernest R. Vieira, III. Born in Jamestown, RI, on July 27, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Morgan and Filomena Rose Morinho, she lived her childhood out at the Jamestown Golf Course on Beavertail Road and enjoyed sharing many experiences of the 1938 hurricane.Mrs. Vieira was a 1932 graduate of Rogers High School and worked as a secretary at the Torpedo Station for several years. She was a pianist for the big band, Swing and Sweat with Paquette. Mary loved cooking dinner for her family and was well known for her native blueberry picking and famous blueberry pies. She also loved music, animals, especially dogs, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Joan E. Weaver and son in law Stanley Weaver of Newport, RI, her son Ernest R. Vieira, IV and daughter in law Peggy Vieira of Georgetown, MA, as well as her grandchildren Ernest R. Vieira, V of Aurora, IL, Eric Morgan Weaver of Newport, RI, Jeffrey Burns of Warwick, RI, Dr. Rebecca Vieira of Brookline, MA, Mary R. Vieira of Jamestown, RI, Stacy Weaver of Newport, RI, Elizabeth Weaver of Long Island, NY, and great grandchildren Autumn Weaver, Justice Connor, Alexa Burns, Jeffrey Burns, Ernest R. Vieira VI and E. Rocky VanKoski. She also leaves her sister in law Mary Vieira Ragland of Jamestown, RI and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Manuel Morinho, Joseph Morinho, and Edward Morinho.Her funeral services will be private, with her pall bearers being grandsons E. Richard Vieira, Eric Weaver, Jeffrey Burns, Glen Spears and Bret Vankoski and her nephew Rod Bennett. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Ghost Society 11 Pemberton Avenue, Jamestown, RI 02835.
