Mary N. Pemental

Middletown, RI - Mary N. (Mello) Pemental, 96, of Middletown, RI, formerly of Blackwell Place, Newport, passed away peacefully at Grand Islander Health Care Center, Middletown, on January 7, 2015. She was the wife of the late John Pemental Senior Chief US Navy.Born in St. Michel, Portugal, on July 15, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Louise (Oliveira) Mello. Mrs. Pemental was a Navy Wife, she and her family lived in Norfolk, VA, San Francisco, CA and finally settling in Newport. She was a communicant of Jesus Saviour Church. Mrs. Pemental was a loving mother and grandmother who helped in raising her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is survived by her sons, Francis Pemental of Newport, RI and John Pemental Jr. and his fianc Jacky of Bristol, RI, her brother Phillip Mello of Portsmouth, RI, seven grandchildren, Christopher Pemental, Susan Pemental, Richard Pemental, Laurie Duffley, Debra Pemental, David Pemental and Dena Pemental, nine great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She was the grandmother of the late John Pemental III and the sister of the late Manuel Mello.Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015, from 8-9:30am in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway, Newport.
