Mary P. Jennings

Middletown, RI - Mary "Pat" Patricia Jennings, beloved wife for 60 years of John Jennings of 7 Smithfield Drive in Middletown, died peacefully at home in Hospice care Monday evening surrounded by her family. Born January 22, 1933, and a graduate of Rogers High School, Pat was the daughter of the late Pauline Gladding Tilley and Alan Burgess and sister to the late Thomas Burgess and Charles Tilley, Jr.Pat was a devoted mother, wife and grandmother and a lifelong resident of Aquidneck Island. She worked for many years as a teachers aide at Thompson Junior High School and in the special education department at Middletown High School. Pats favorite memories were of Sunday dinners at home with her family, lunch dates with her cousins (the girls) and a good lobster roll from Johnnys Atlantic Beach Club or the Country Inn. Pat also enjoyed traveling with her husband, family and friends, and of course, she enjoyed her crossword puzzles, crocheting, cooking shows and a game of Bingo on Monday nights. Pat is survived by her husband, John, her sister, Beverly Segerson, four children, Patricia Jennings, John Jennings, Jr., William Jennings, and Amy Ciccone, and her two grandchildren, Andrew Jennings and Nicholas Jennings as well as a loving extended family of cousins, nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2012, from 4-7pm in the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by a prayer service at 7pm.Her funeral will be held on Friday, June 15, 2012, at 8:00AM, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00AM, in St. Lucys Church, 909 West Main Road, Middletown. Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery in Middletown.
