Mary Rodrigues Olson

Mary R.Olson, 88, formerly of Ludlow Road, Middletown, RI, died Thursday, October 10, 2013 at St. Clare Nursing Home, Newport, RI, surrounded by her loving family.She was the wife of the late MSGT. James Robert Olson. She was born in Newport, RI on August 6, 1926 to the late Vincent Rodrigues and Isabel (Viera) Rodrigues and spent her childhood in Madeira Island, Portugal.In later years, she was a companion/caregiver to the elderly. She was a daily communicant of Jesus Saviour Church and was a faithful member of the Corpus Christi Third Order Carmelites.She is survived by her children, Lindsay Olson Hill and her husband Curtis of Portsmouth, James Richard Olson and his wife Sue of Middletown, RI, John Robert Olson of West Palm Beach, FL; her brothers, John Rodrigues of Middletown, RI and Manuel Rodrigues and his wife, Colette of Newport; her sister, Ida Rudnik and her husband, James of Middletown, RI, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nephews and nieces that she loved. She is predeceased by her brothers, Emmanuel, Joseph and Vincent, and her sister, Maria.A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 9 am in Jesus Saviour Church, Broadway and Vernon Avenue, Newport, RI. Committal prayers will be held at St. Columba Cemetery Chapel in Middletown, RI.
