Mary Rozes

Newport, RI - Mary Macris Rozes , 95, of 8 Annandale Terrace, Newport, RI, died Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Newport Hospital, Newport, RI.She was the wife of the late Spiros A. Rozes. Born in Tripotama, Greece on February 17, 1914, she was the daughter of the late James and Pauline Dimitropoulos Macris.Mrs. Rozes was a Communicant of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Newport. Educated in Waterbury Connecticut schools and a graduate of the Perry Secretarial School in Waterbury, CT in 1935 where she held many secretarial positions. In 1936 she managed a family business in Waterbury, CT. Mrs. Rozes was a member and past president of the Philoptochos Society. She was also a member of the Daughters of Penelope, and past matron of the Aquidneck Chapter Number 7 of the Order of the Eastern Star. A scholarship in her name has been established by the Daughters of Penelope. She is survived by two sons Dr. James S. Rozes of Jamestown, RI, and Arthur S. Rozes Esq. of Hagerstown, MD, seven grandchildren Jason, Christina, Emily, Philip, Charles, Johnathan, and Jennifer, and seven great grandchildren Isabel, Aiden, Jason, Ben, Grace, Alexis, and Eric.Her funeral will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 11:00 am from the Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, Newport, followed by funeral services at 12:00 pm in St. Spyridons Greek Orthodox Church, 390 Thames Street, Newport.Burial will be in Middletown Cemetery in Middletown.Calling hours will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2010, from 6-8 pm in the Memorial Funeral Home.
